A primary goal of the Utah Priorities project is to encourage focus on the most important problems and issues facing this state during the governor’s race. In January, Utah Foundation commissioned a poll to find out the issues that are of most concern to Utah voters. The graph below shows how poll respondents ranked the issues. For more details, please read our Executive Summary of the poll findings or the complete Research Report on the poll.

In developing our list of the top ten issues, we combined a few categories that were very similar and ranked adjacent to each other. We combined children's health and health care, and we also combined environment and air quality with hazardous waste. Transportation, immigration, abortion, gun rights, and gay rights did not rank high enough for inclusion in the top issues of concern for 2004.
